The Italian-American pop diva Ariana Grande makes her way to Toyota Center this weekend, Sunday, May 19, 2019 with her Sweetener World Tour.
Recently the pop music star signed with Givenchy. Alure.com says Grande is following in the footsteps of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn in her new role as the face of iconic French design house.
The singer/songwriter and outspoken issue activist is known for her TMZ coverage, especially with Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson.  She and the SNL writer/player had a short engagement.
The petite Grande hails from Florida and as a child performed with the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theater, playing her first role as the title character in Annie. She also performed in the musicals The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast. At the age of 8, she performed at a karaoke lounge on a cruise ship and with various orchestras such as South Florida's Philharmonic, Florida Sunshine Pops and Symphonic Orchestras, and she made her first national television appearance singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" for the Florida Panthers. She attended Pine Crest School and North Broward Preparatory School.

Grande's celebrity (fame) as many know started when she was showcasedin the Nickelodeon television show Victorious along with 13 co-star Elizabeth Gillies. In this sitcom, set in a performing arts high school, Grande played the "adorably dimwitted" Cat Valentine. She had to dye her hair red every other week for the role because the executive producer, Dan Schneider, did not want all the cast members to be brunettes, and the red hair was also a feature that the network felt would fit the personality of Cat. The show premiered in 2010 to the second largest audience for a live-action series in the children's cable network history with 5.7 million viewers. The role helped propel Grande to teen idol status, but she was more interested in a music career, stating that acting is "fun, but music has always been first and foremost with me." Her character was compared to "Brittany Murphy's performance as the hapless Tai in Clueless" and described as being "very impressionable and easily swayed" but "generally sweet". The second season premiered to 6.2 million viewers, becoming the highest rated episode of Victorious.

Recently Grande became the youngest artist ever to headline and the fourth female headliner of The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly called Coachella or the Coachella Festival) the annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert.

Earlier this year Grande won a Brit Award for International Female Solo Artist. She also started her third headlining tour, the Sweetener World Tour, to promote both Sweetener and Thank U, Next, this tour brings her to Houston's Toyota Center.

Grande has cited Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey as her major influences . . .

Grande was nominated for nine awards at this year's Billboard Music Awards, including Top Artist. She would win two for Billboard Chart Achievement and Top Female Artist. Grande performed at the music magazine's award show via a pre-recorded performance from her Vancouver Sweetener World Tour.

Grande has cited Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey as her major influences, saying: "I love Mariah Carey. She is literally my favorite human being on the planet.

And of course Whitney (Houston) as well. As far as vocal influences go, Whitney and Mariah pretty much cover it." She describes Gloria Estefan as the person who inspired her to pursue a career in the music industry, after Estefan complimented a performance she saw Grande give on a cruise ship when she was eight years old.
