Kai Humphries
@Bayou Music Center

Saturday 11/20/2021 7:30 PM

Daniel Sloss began his worldwide tour for the last fall in the UK, and began his U.S. tour back in October. In April Sloss took "Hubris" to Australia, performing 32 shows in 30 days and ranking as the best-selling comedian in the world for the first half of the year. This weekend Sloss with Kai Humphries is at LiveNation's Bayou Music Center in Bayou Place in downtown Houston.

Daniel Sloss is an internationally acclaimed and award-winning Scottish comedian.

This is Sloss’ first tour since 2018, after his premiere of Daniel Sloss: X. The comedian performed in 40 countries and released an HBO special for the show in 2019. Sloss also has two Netflix specials which premiered in 2018, Daniel Sloss: Jigsaw and Daniel Sloss: Dark.

Daniel Sloss: X notably addressed the #MeToo movement and highlighted modern takes on masculinity just a year after the beginning of the movement in 2017. His stand-up performance offered constructive criticism in a fresh and entertaining way, and successfully walked the line of being both humorous and insightful. With his newest show on the way, it will be interesting to see what kind of content Sloss includes given the past few years we have had.

His latest show ‘Daniel Sloss: HUBRIS’ premiered in New York . . .

Sloss's extraordinary tenth solo show ‘Daniel Sloss: X’ received rave reviews across its record-breaking, global tour that spanned an incredible 300 performances across 40 countries. Filmed in Sydney, ‘X’ premiered on HBO in the USA and Canada in 2019 and subsequently made history with its UK release, becoming the first comedy special to make its national debut on the big screen, exclusively at Vue in February 2020.

His two hour-long specials for Netflix, ‘Daniel Sloss – Live Shows’ (‘DARK’ and ‘Jigsaw’), are streaming in 190 countries and in 26 languages), he has performed six solo seasons off Broadway in New York and, for the past 11 years has been one of the biggest ticket sellers at the world’s biggest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe.

His latest show ‘Daniel Sloss: HUBRIS’ premiered in New York, just before the global pandemic closed the world of live entertainment down and managed to tour off and on as was safe and legal throughout the autumn of 2020 across the UK. The world-wide tour of HUBRIS has been rescheduled to 2021-2022.

Daniel has featured on TV shows including ‘The Graham Norton Show’, ‘Conan’, ‘Drunk History’, ‘Roast Battles’, ‘The Late Late Show’ and ‘Sunday Night at the Palladium’. He tours live extensively, to date having performed in 50 countries including the UK, USA, Australia, Japan, Russia and across the many different nations in Europe.

Daniel is 30 and lives in Scotland.

Kai Humphries

Kai is a happy-go-lucky, supremely funny Geordie comedian and compere. Since bursting through the ranks as a 2009 finalist in comedy’s prestigious So You Think You’re Funny? competition, his infectious enthusiasm and high-octane delivery of genuinely hilarious, surreal and delightfully optimistic material has firmly established him as one of the UK’s most in demand and popular stand-ups. Kai has, to date, performed in nearly 50 countries across the globe as part of the Daniel Sloss tour, released his first book and appeared on numerous TV and radio shows.

In April 2010, he recorded a set for Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store alongside some of the biggest names in comedy—barely 18 months after his very first time ever on stage. He made his solo hour-long debut with a four-week run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe of his show Kai Humphries—Evolution and subsequently supported Rhod Gilbert and Daniel Sloss on tour. His reputation rapidly escalated and, less than six months later, Kai was able to fulfil his dream to quit his day job and go full-time in comedy.

2011 began with Kai supporting more Daniel Sloss tour dates, produced by Live Nation who subsequently booked him to support that autumn’s national tour. In June, he was given a talent deal by the BBC’s 2 Entertain DVD label and Kai premiered his second solo Edinburgh Fringe show Bare-faced Cheek in August.

The touring relationship with Daniel Sloss developed throughout 2012 and into 2013, with over 120 show dates, and Kai was invited back onto Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store.

In 2013, Kai made his Australian debut with seasons at both the Melbourne and Sydney International Comedy Festivals. His third solo show at Edinburgh’s Fringe, Shameless, attracted rave reviews and a lot of media attention over its death-defying (true) ending about how Kai had narrowly escaped serious injury or worse when he was run over by the entire pack of bulls in Pamplona earlier that June.
