It was last February Marc Anthony made his way to Toyota Center it was after Valentines Day. This time it is before.
Pollstar.com some of the people that track live concert attendance gigs say Anthony always has impressive box office numbers.
This is the way his performances unfolded last year according to them, "Anthony is No. 20 on the chart with an average gross of $1.27 million and 12,432 tickets sold per city. Reports include Nov. 8 at AT&T Center in San Antonio, which grossed $985,719, Madison Square Garden Oct. 27 ($1.74 million), and Mohegan Sun Arena Oct. 27 in Uncasville, Conn., which grossed $778,275. Those dates were all promoted by longtime Anthony promoter Cardenas Marketing Network, led by Henry Cardenas, recent Pollstar cover subject.
“I used to live in his house in the Bronx,” Cárdenas told Pollstar. “We didn’t have any money. He’s very funny. I used to tell him, ‘The day you don’t sing we’re going to go out to do comedy.’ He could easily do a sitcom.”
Cárdenas later became Anthony’s promoter for all his global arena and stadium tours. According to Pollstar Boxoffice reports dating back to 1999, Anthony’s impressive live career has grossed some $225.3 million across a total of 298 shows," reports Pollstar.com
Anthony has 26 Billboard chart hits like “Vivir Mi Vida” with more than 350 million views in you tube and “Flor Pálida,” with more than 80 million views on Vevo. With momentum from that hit single, Marc Anthony, his eponymous English-language album debut, went triple-platinum in the US, and helped usher in the Latin pop explosion of 1999-2000. In 2005 he received double best-album GRAMMYs® — Best Latin Pop Album for Amar Sin Mentiras, and Best Salsa Album for Valió la Pena.
Marc Anthony has sold over 12 million albums worldwide, receiving numerous gold and platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) along the way; been recognized by New York magazine as one of the Ten Most Influential New Yorkers; was inaugurated into the Billboard Hall of Fame in 2012, and given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in Washington D.C. in September 2009. The Chosen, which aired simultaneously on Spanish and English television in the US and Latin America.
