     This weekend it’s one of radio's mass appeal groups from the 90's on a summer tour that will bring them to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands.
     It's Hootie and the Blowfish’s "Group Therapy Tour". The tour is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their release Cracked Rear View album.
     Jim Sonefeld was asked last week when the group played Palm Beach, by the Palm Beach Post.com, Why call this the Group Therapy Tour. "It’s funny! (Laughs) It fits the mood of what we intend to share, which is that you get together, you talk about stuff, you sing some, you dance some and solve the world’s problems. And you let off some steam."

     Did you know that salsa music man Ruben Blades has an international law degree from Harvard University?
     The Panamanian singer, songwriter and character actor is most noted for his Afro-Cuban, salsa, and Latin jazz genres.
     Blades with the Jazz Houston Orchestra make their way to Bayou Place's Revention Music Center t.his weekend (Friday, June 14, 2019)
Music critics say Blades as a song writer brought the lyrical sophistication of Central American nueva canción and Cuban nueva trova as well as experimental tempos and politically inspired Nuyorican salsa to his music, creating "thinking persons' (salsa) dance music". Blades has written dozens of hit songs, including "Pedro Navaja" and "El Cantante" (which became Héctor Lavoe's signature song). He has won eight Grammy Awards and five Latin Grammy Awards.

     It all started for Ritter, creating music that is, back when he says as a teenager hearing Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country" on his parents' copy of Nashville Skyline. Ritter says attempted to write songs on a lute that his father had built eventually abandoning the lute and buying his first guitar at K-Mart in the small country town of Moscow, Idaho.
     Ritter makes his way to The Heights Theatre in Northwest Houston this weekend.
     His new music is called "Fever Breaks". The singer/songwriter says he had an obligation to address current events with his songwriting. With that Ritter also has noted being a new father has also influenced his creativity. Ritter recently gave an interview to David McClister of Charlottesville, VA's The Daily Progress.com.

In this dramatic retelling of France’s infamous young monarchs, history becomes HERstory as Stanton Welch’s Marie returns to the Wortham Theater Center to close Houston Ballet’s 2018/19 season this weekend.
     The past unfolds in the three-act ballet that chronicles the Queen’s life in a time of immense social and political strife for the people of France. Returning to the role originally created for her in 2009, Melody Mennite, Houston Ballet Principal Dancer will dance the ballet’s namesake once again.

     The Alley Theatre this summer is presenting Ken Ludwig's The Three Musketeers on their Hubbard Stage. The theatre groups closes out their 20118-19 season with this production.  The performances start May 31st through June 30th, 2019.
     Ludwig a prolific playwright has created numerous works and has earned two Olivier Awards, three Tony Award nominations, two Tony Awards, two Helen Hayes Awards, the Edgar Award, the Edwin Forest Award, the Pennsylvania Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts and an honorary doctorate from York University. In 2014, Ludwig won a Falstaff Award for his book "How to Teach Your Children Shakespeare" in the category of "Best Book, Publication, or Recording".
     Ludwig on his web portal describes his adaptation, which was commissioned by the Bristol Old Vic in England, is based on the timeless swashbuckler by Alexandre Dumas, a tale of heroism, treachery, close escapes and above all, honor.
