On the evening of Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, the pulsing heart of Houston's live music scene—the House of Blues—will resonate with the compelling beats and raw storytelling of Ibrahim Muhammed Dodo, better known by his stage name Hunxho. The acclaimed rapper, a storyteller at his core, brings to Houston an electrifying blend of grit and rhythm that promises to captivate the city's diverse audience.
Hunxho, born on June 22, 1999, in Greensboro, North Carolina, has seen a meteoric rise in the hip hop community since his breakout hit "Let's Get It" in 2021. This track, which later featured a remix with 21 Savage, marked the beginning of his ascent in the music industry. It's a journey of perseverance, beginning in the streets of East Atlanta, where Hunxho crafted his art amid the echoes of his inspirations—icons like Young Thug and Gucci Mane.
His relocation to Georgia during adolescence and later to Colorado for college were pivotal moments that shaped both his character and his sound. Despite a budding interest in basketball, Hunxho's true calling was music, a passion ignited in the lively and challenging streets of East Atlanta. By 2017, he was fully invested in his music career, drawing from his experiences to pen lyrics that spoke of life's stark realities and personal triumphs.
Hunxho’s body of work, particularly the mixtape "Street Poet 2" and his projects "Street Poetry" and "Xhosen," showcase his evolution from a street-savvy artist to a profound lyrical poet. His 2023 debut album "22" is a narrative arc of his life, featuring collaborations with artists like Tee Grizzley and Yung Mal. The album encapsulates his reflections on loyalty, power, and survival, highlighted in tracks like "True To My Religion" and "48 Laws Of Power."
